Hi
All,
I'd
like to thank everyone for joining Data Science KC and hope to see many of you
in a couple weeks at the Meet and Greet!
Data
Science KC is geared towards helping data scientists grow professionally and
allow non data scientists to learn about what data scientists do. With that in
mind, I'd like to get a feel for what group members are interested in.
So
please take a moment and respond to this email or post to the discussion board.
Let me know what topics you are interested in. Let me know what would help you
grow professionally or just be a cool topic to learn about. Also, if you would
be interested in presenting on a topic please let me know. I'd love to get two
people to give 10-20 minute presentations for an August meeting!
Here
are some ideas for presentations:
-
Using "insert language/software here" for machine
learning/statistical analysis
-
Data mining and visualization techniques for "insert industry here"
-
A tutorial on using R
-
Natural Language Processing with Python
-
How to get a job in Data Science
-
Tips and tricks for implementing predictive modeling in you organization
-
Using API's to automate data collection from the Web
Also,
if you have a particular speaker that you would like to hear then pass along
their name (e.g. http://www.cs.columbia.edu/~evs/, http://www.tomdavenport.com/) . I'll be
happy to reach out them.
