SecKC is tonight (Barley's Brewhaus on Midland Dr), so let me kick you the real deal. If think "hacking" is black magic, then you should attend. If you think you wouldn't fit in because you are a systems administrator, then you should attend. If you think its a room full of smelly nerds who like shenanigans, then you might want to reconsider... because that part is true.
SecKC is an open group, we welcome all walks of technical life and encourage anyone wanting to expand their skill set, regardless if you want to improve public speaking, technical prowess or just hang with like minded infosec sheepdogs fighting the same battle you are.
The SecKC collective is the same group of people who are driving the Kansas City security and technical community forward. We host meetings every month and I promise you, you will learn something you can take back to your office and use. I learn something new every month, both about my own skillset and from others.
Attendance is free, and being a fly on the wall is free. I encourage you to come to a meeting and see what it is about.
If you have any questions about a meeting or want to talk prior to a meeting to get a better understanding of what to expect, we offer 'SecKC 101' which starts at 6pm (30 minutes prior to meeting time). If you like what you hear, then stay, if it isn't for you... stay anyway and be certain . You can also email any of the founders (on the seckc.org page) and we will be happy to answer any questions.
