Access User Group presentation is database design and identifying good primary keys for tables.
During the discussion, we will look at examples and explore questions like:
What are some best practices for primary keys?
Should I use the “business key” that makes the data unique or should I use “surrogate keys”?
What are the pros and cons?
Is it preferable to be consistent when enhancing an existing database or implement different standard practices that you think are better?
Janet Gelsinger has participated in the Heartland Access User Group since about 1996 and works at Hallmark Cards as a Data Analyst for the www.Hallmark.com website. Janet’s IT career began with computer software support and progressed to a primary focus on data as both a DBA and Data Analyst, working on database administration, development and design on Access, Oracle, Teradata and most recently, SQL Server.
