KCOHG is a Kansas Non-Profit, our charter is centered around allowing the metro and regional Open Source community a place to meet, gather and network however it has grown. The group has become a catalyst for Open Education in the central states, working closely with Makers, Hobbyist and Tinkers of all backgrounds.

What we are looking for:
We are looking for Makers and Demonstrators with Open Source projects; these can be education based or something simply cool you’re working on.

We would like to thank our event host and sponsor for this event, the Mabee Library located on the campus of MidAmerica Nazarene University.
BUILD EVENT
How long do we have?
Each team must build a working device which must be completed during only the build portion of the event.
Who determines the winning group?
The judges will be a group including the KCOHG board of directors, NMU library Director and trusted faculty.
What does the winning team get?
Each member of the team that wins will be awarded a $50.00 Visa gift card as well allowing the team. In addition EVERY TEAM gets to take divide and take home the team's components and parts.
What will be provided to each team?
Each team will be provided a single Raspberry Pi build kit (Raspberry Pi Model B) as your primary component (see below for more details).
The Pi will have Raspbian on the image for your use, your team is welcome to use another OS if you would like (eg. Wheezy, Embedded Java, ect).
Each team will also be provided with a special "Theme Component" to be announced the day of the event. To help you prepare our only hint will be, the secret component allows you to develop for the Internet of Things.
The kit will include at minimum:
What can/can't I bring to the event?
You are welcome to bring small items for your build that you think your team may need as part of the project, these include (but are not limited too) servos, brushless motors, mounting items (eg. larger breadboard, etc.).
We expect each team to bring tools they think might be needed for their project with them as well (screwdrivers, soldering irons, etc.)
Raspberry Pi shields are allowed however no other micro-controller or similar item is allowed to be added to the project.
Will Internet be provided?
Internet is available and will be provided, all participants are expected to adhere to all Internet polices in place by our host location. Anyone violating this policy will be asked to leave
GENERAL EVENT
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
You must be at least 18 years of age or older to participate in the build event (16 years or older with parent or guardian signature).
