Meeting Topic:

How going into the Big Room changes everything, a story of transformation from Rally’s Release Train Engineer

Meeting Description:

About a year ago Rally Software’s engineering group had hit a rut.  Segmented into product lines Rally had 120 engineers delivering approximately 14 user facing features per quarter.  Some may say, that Rally had lost their way.  The “evolution to easy” resulted in Rally’s R&D department being unpredictable.  This realization was a turning point, Rally needed to align to business needs and collaborate as a whole to do what was best for their customers.

Fast-forward a year later, with 4 quarters of collaborative large scale planning under their belt Rally’s R&D department predictably delivers 4x as many features as they once did.  Engagement and morale is up amongst both engineers and customer-facing employees and recently at their June users conference Rally revealed one of the largest product announcements in their history, accelerating their position in the market in the program and portfolio space.

Join Andrew Korbel, Rally’s Release Train Engineer, to discuss how getting back to Agile basics has accelerated product delivery and sparked process innovation across Rally’s R&D.  He will discuss their current approach to quarterly planning which involves getting over 120 people into one big room and how that event has transformed the way they prepare, plan, deliver and steer Rally’s business.
