Speaker Bios:
Linda Claussen - A frequent speaker at conferences and user groups, Linda's 40+ years of experience spans the various roles of application developer, project manager, Data Base Administration and Systems Programmer. Linda's first exposure to DB2 started with DB2 1.1 and since the late 80’s she has been actively engaged in consulting and training assignments to large DB2 environments. She has frequently worked with new DB2 sites performing the initial DB2 install, providing training and consulting to the Project Leader, DBAs and Application staff responsible for the initial DB2 pilot project and conducting design reviews to insure successful project implementation. Linda is currently a senior systems advisor for Themis, Inc., a past member of the IBM DB2 GOLD Consultants program and a current member of the IBM consultants advisory counsel.

Abstracts:
Using DB2 for z/OS Extended Features to Solve Complex Requirements
Throughout the last several releases of DB2 for z/OS IBM has introduced extended features to address complex data access requirements. Making informed choices in the utilization of MQTs, Table Expressions, Clone tables, Global Temporary Tables, Archive and Temporal Tables, surrogate keys, and more are critical to performance. This 2 part session helps the application developer and database administrator in the selection, use and implementation of the extended features of DB2 to solve complex performance problems.

Objectives:

Create and manage array data types, surrogate keys,  MQTs, clones, triggers, temporal tables, temporary tables, hash tables, LOBs, and more
Make informed advanced feature selection choices.
Identify key strengths and weaknesses of selected features.

Data Server Manager Overview and Demo
Customers have always had separate tools for database administration, performance monitoring, configuration management, and query tuning. Now you can do all of these tasks using one tool. IBM® Data Server Manager Base Edition (DSM) is available as a no-charge download from Developer Works. DSM Base Edition is a simple, scalable, and smart solution to administer, monitor, manage, and optimize the performance of IBM DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows databases across the enterprise. Available with DB2 for Advanced Enterprise Server Edition and as a Business-value offering is the IBM Data Server Manager Enterprise Edition. The Enterprise Edition includes historical monitoring and analysis, smart alerting, client configuration and monitoring, query tuning, and more. Both editions offer a lightweight setup option for real-time monitoring and administration. DSM Enterprise Edition requires a repository database that can be created and setup before or after DSM is up and running. Today, you will see a high-level overview of DSM and then we will go through a demo of the product.
