What skills are hiring managers looking for in data scientists? What type of work are data scientists doing in Kansas City? How much are KC data scientists making? RSVP to get the answer to these questions and more!
To help us answer the last question (and many others)...please complete our survey about KC Data Scientists! Survey results will be presented at the meetup.
This should be a raucous night with two panel discussions! The first will be with a group of hiring managers, folks responsible for filling open data scientist positions. Many DSKC members are interested in finding out what skills and attributes companies are looking for when making hiring decisions. We intend to demystify that to some degree. Panelists will discuss what they look for when it comes to hiring and field questions from the audience.
The second discussion will focus on what type of data science work is being done by companies in Kansas City. Is everyone just a glorified Excel jockey?! Or are folks deploying cutting edge deep learning models that will lead to the Singularity? Is anyone doing data science purely in Javascript? Don't miss this exciting panel discussion.
Panelist for the evening are:
Kris Thodosoff - Lead Data Scientist @ New Directions Behavioral Health
Brian Karnik - Manager of Data Science @ Empower Retirement
Tuan Tran - Senior Manager Consumer Insights @ DineEquity
Mark McKelvey - Director of Data Science & Technology @ Alight Analytics
Harsha Pothapragada - Data Scientist @ DST
