Title:   JCCC Data Science Certificate 
Presenter:    Mike Carter 
Description: 
JCCC is offering a new data science certificate beginning in the Fall of 2017. This certificate consists of eight new courses. This certificate has been vetted by numerous local companies including Sprint, Cerner and Heritage Computer Consulting & Services, Inc. 

In this session we will explore the courses and their associated goals and outcomes. We will also utilize a web application used to help students determine their interest in this certificate. Maybe your interest aligns with the new data science certificate? 

Mike Carter is an Associate Professor in the Computer Science & Information Systems department at Johnson County Community College where he teaches database management and discrete structures.

Title:   Leszynski naming convention 
Presenter:   Lisa Friedrichsen 
Description: 
The Leszynski naming convention is a standard in the Access and Visual Basic communities.  It provides a meaningful set of prefixes for naming objects, fields, controls, and variables.  The use of standard naming conventions helps make your applications easier to develop and maintain due to the self-documenting nature of the system. 

In this session we'll explore an Access database application that uses the Leszynski naming convention.  The session will conclude with an open forum to share our collective best practices for naming conventions and documentation. 

Lisa Friedrichsen is a Professor in the Computer Science & Information Systems department at Johnson County Community College where she teaches Access, database, and web technology courses.
