Facilitator: Andrew is a Technology Executive who has driven technical and security advantage for a variety of commercial and Government enterprises. He has built many of the world’s most secure systems (@Georgia Tech), designed leading information security programs following major breaches (@PwC), and is developing innovative solutions to seriously complex security problems (@Kudelski).
He is currently the Chief Technology Officer for Kudelski Security, a publicly traded global information security solutions firm, where he leads the company’s global innovation strategy with teams across US, Europe, and Asia. He is a subject matter expert in data governance, product security, IoT, and cloud transformation.
Prior to Kudelski, he served as the chief executive for the cyber security-focused R&D laboratory at the Georgia Tech Research Institute, a nationally-recognized defense R&D center affiliated with Georgia Tech. Significant past experience in Oil & Gas, Retail, Defense, and Financial Services. He has previously led security organizations in a variety of roles from CISO to GRC and Architecture.
He is a seasoned speaker on security topics at major industry events such as RSA, the World Economic Forum, Mobile World Congress, National Association of Broadcasters, Offshore Technology Conference, NASDAQ, the Technology Association of Georgia, and others. In addition, he also a regular contributor on newsworthy cyber security topics to media outlets.
TOPIC: As the number and diversity of devices within city and enterprise environments increases, security challenges are becoming more apparent. Just this past year, early Tornado warning systems in Dallas, Texas were compromised with a loud impact. Andrew Howard, CTO for Kudelski Security – a swiss solutions firm with over 500 million devices deployed on the Internet, will discuss the challenges and realities of securing individual devices and networks of IoT devices like those found in cities and larger enterprises. This talk will include examples of challenges, common mistakes, and practical solution ideas based on 20 years of experience building and managing heavily-attacked devices.
