Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 1:00:00 PM The NEW HammerSpace Community Workshop 5200 E. 45th St., Kansas City, MO
My digital pet is so cute, I designed it myself! It gets bored, and angry, and occasionally it needs to be fed fresh AAA batteries!
In this class you will design and build your own digital pet using Arduino and an OLED display. We will be creating our own Bitmap sprites to give each pet a unique appearance, and using pre-programed behaviours to bring the the pets to life and adjust their personalities.
Arduino is an inexpensive and easy-to-learn combination of software and hardware that lets students, artist, tinkerers, and hobbyists add intelligence to their projects.
In this class we'll cover how to use high brightness OLED Displays with Arduino, and how to create simple animations with sprites and bitmaps. We'll convert our images into arduino code, and use them with a premade custom code to bring the pets to life!
**Students needs to bring their own Computer to this class.**
We will be downloading and installing the software used to program your Arduino.
In this Three Hour class we will cover:
● Basics of Animation
● Drawing Simple Sprites
● Converting and image to Arduino Code
● Attaching an OLED Display to the Arduino
● Using For() loops and the Random() function to create lifelike behavior.
Suggested age range: 10 to adult
