Add yet another skill to your tool belt!

When it comes to modern web apps, it's not enough that it work as expected, we also want it to be experienced as expected. In other words, we want to test the look and feel of a site across platforms. That's where automated visual testing with BackstopJS comes in.

This workshop will be divided into two parts.

In the first, we'll get a BackstopJS test up and running. It only takes four commands and three minutes to have your first visual test. Then, we'll play around with the configuration. You'll see how intuitive it is -- you don't even need a coding background to make sophisticated changes.

BackstopJS is an open-source tool, which means it is built and maintained by the coding community.

In the second part of our workshop, we'll discuss some of the features and upgrades we'd like to see made to BackstopJS. Then, we'll dive into the source code and talk through possible contributions we could make to the repository.

Whether you're a seasoned test automator or someone just getting started, this workshop will give you the opportunity to hone your testing skills.

Refreshments will be provided by our awesome sponsors at ECCO Select (https://www.eccoselect.com/).

* Please, have your laptop with you for some hands-on experience! But if you prefer to just listen and learn, you are welcome to do so.

Presenter:
Andrea Johnson - Writer turned coder with a passion for good READMEs. As a technology apprentice at VMLYR, I'm currently writing automated tests using Selenium, JBehave, Cucumber, Serenity and Jenkins. After learning the hard way, I like teaching the easy way. When I'm not improving my Java skills I love mountain biking. Both involve the possibility of disaster.
