Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 7:00:00 PM Denny's Restaurant 1600 Broadway Blvd, Kansas City,

If you do not immediately see us then tell the Denny's staff that you are here for the Kansas City Video Game Developers Meetup group.

Open to anyone in the area who is interested in developing video games. In order to have a little structure, we'll try to do a couple things each week:

Introduce new members. What have you worked on, game related or not? What do you want to work on next?

Discuss this week's conversation starter. Some article, video or game that we can dig into a little.

Members can present any games they're working on, for feedback or just to brag.

Of course, it's all very informal. The main goal is interesting conversation(s) about our passion.

Looking forward to it!

Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at 6:00:00 PM Stowers Institute 1000 E 50th St, Kansas City,

Eric Poe will share about recent PHP community news. Then John Kary will guide us in a holiday-themed group programming exercise following AdventOfCode.com! No programming experience or laptop required to participate. Promise! Just your brain and problem solving skills.

https://adventofcode.com/2019/about

Advent of Code is an Advent calendar of small programming puzzles for any skill set and skill level using any programming language. You don't need a computer science background to participate - just a little programming knowledge and some problem solving skills will get you pretty far. Nor do you need a fancy computer; every problem has a solution that completes in at most 15 seconds on ten-year-old hardware.

Light refreshments will be provided.

We love Web Development and all things PHP. Our meetings are often a little free-formed, but we shoot for this schedule:

6:00pm - Mingling / Meet and Greet

6:15pm - Lightning Talk:
* Last Month in PHP

6:30pm - Advent of Code (mob programming). Bring a laptop if you'd like to share your solutions in the language of your choice.

If you are interested in speaking or would like to suggest a future topic please suggest one: (http://www.meetup.com/kcphpug/suggestion/)

All Developers and Non-Developers Welcome!

We understand Web Developers often come from all backgrounds, and many work in more languages than PHP. Whether you're curious and just starting out, dabble in PHP on the weekends, write custom PHP on a daily basis, work in a framework like Symfony, Zend Framework, Silex, Slim, Laravel, CakePHP or customize CMS products like WordPress, Drupal or Joomla; our goal is that you will find something new, useful and thought provoking.

Park in any visitor space in the parking garage and enter the main building from the west. Follow the signs for PHP User Group and turn right at the security desk. Click here for event

Let's relax and have show and tell! Our annual potluck and demo night in December gives everyone the chance to see others' work and to have the chance to win valuable prizes! We will spend the evening sharing a potluck dinner, seeing what everyone's been up to during the past year, and exploring new tools and techniques with Creative Cloud. This is our "annual demo night" and it also gives us the chance to give away a complete year's subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud to one lucky winner.

When you RSVP, tell us what food you're bringing, and, if you'd like to demo, what you're willing to show and tell.

Here's how to get more chances to win...

• Just by showing up, you'll receive a raffle ticket.

• Having earned one for each meeting you've attended since June, those raffle tickets will be added to the pile.

• If you bring at least one food item for the potluck, you'll receive an additional raffle ticket.

• If you give a demo of something you've worked on, are currently learning, or just want to show off a technique or tool you've discovered, you'll receive an additional raffle ticket. Demos are limited to 10 minutes.

• If you want to buy an additional raffle ticket, they are $10 each and the funds will be used to help pay Meetup costs for the group ($180/year) plus incidental expenses.

This is always a fun meeting, and gives us the chance to look up from our computers and see what else is going on around us. Come prepared to eat, have fun, and win prizes!

See you there!

THE TIME AND PLACE ARE NOT SET YET --- WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK!!!

We need your feedback for the December meetup. Please give us an honest RSVP to give us an idea on how many people would being willing to attend so we can plan accordingly.

We are also looking for volunteer/organizers to pull this together.

We are considering doing an AWS RE:Invent Keynote watch party.

This would mostly likely be during the workday from 9AM to Noonish with Lunch afterward on one of the days of the Keynotes:

https://reinvent.awsevents.com/learn/keynotes/

* Tuesday Dec 3rd - Andy Jassy CEO - Insights on the latest from AWS
* Wednesday Dec 4th - Doug Yeum, - GPS keynote and how partners can innovate
* Thursday Dec 5th - Dr. Werner Vogels CTO - technical underpinnings of AWS and architectural design investments

Open questions:

* Where should we hold this?
* What should we have for lunch?
* Which day/content looks most appealing?

Feel free to discuss here on Meetup.com or join the conversation on the DevOpsKC Slack:
* http://slack.devopskc.com/ if you are not there yet, or

Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 6:00:00 PM The NEW HammerSpace Community Workshop 5200 E. 45th St., Kansas City, MO

Every Thursday, the members of Hammerspace gather to socialize, network, and meet new members of the space. We welcome the community at large to come down during this time to explore the workshop, check out all of the tools, fabrication equipment and work space made available to HammerSpace members, and ask questions of our community of Hammerspace users.

There is plenty of off-street parking, a kids playroom available for tiny makers, and the evening is always the origin point of new and amazing creative ideas.

Tours are led every 30 minutes for those curious about the tools and capabilities of the facility and staff. This is a free event, open to the public.

When you walk in the door, let them know you are with KC Roundtable and they should bring you to the table!

We are usually in the room to the back left. If that one is for some reason filled we end up in the room to the right immediately when you walk in at the a large set of tables in the middle. See you there! Click here for event

Hello, all!  Totally belated update on topic and location!

Tonight's meeting will be at the Corinth Branch of the Johnson County Library, at 8100 Mission Rd in Prairie Village.

We're going to try something a little different this month. Do you have questions that you're not comfortable asking an expert? Do you just want to share the frustration of a requirement or vulnerability without hearing an over-simplified solution to your problem? Come and talk about it at AppSec Anonymous.

Topic:
The topic for the November meeting is authentication. We can discuss if passwords are really the devil, how much MFA is going to solve all the problems, or anything causing you to lose sleep. There should be plenty of open ears from folks struggling with similar requirements and red tape.

We'll have snacks and drinks, sponsored by OWASP!
Note that due to the holidays, there will not be a December meeting!

* Last Month in PHP
